I joined up with an artist named Skye Walker to conceptulize and carry out this show. We basically picked 2-3 of each of our friends who work in different mediums and told them the only rules are that you find your material, or purchase it used from a thrift store or garage sale.

I never expected to see such good work from everyone. Not one artist did anything similar, or anything bad for that matter. You couldn't even tell half the stuff had been recycled. Everyone walked away thinking that every project from here forward should include some junk in the trunk.

My focus was tied to the show though the idea of "Scavengers." I consider myself a high-end scavenger that browses second hand stores frequently, but found a group of animals and humans that all have different scavenging traits in order to live, or just to feel complete. This group fascinates me, and i'll continue to work with "Scavengers" as subject matter moving forward in my art.

Migrate Home is a green boutique in Encinitas that houses some fine products that are organic, recycled, and just plain cool. I had an artshow there a while back which you can see by the photos above, and things went really well. Thanks again, Lindy and Chad.

After the show, I began curating other artists work on the walls, but will need to move on as i'm relocating to a new home soon in Northern California.

This was the first artshow when i left Nixon. My good friend "Chivo" joined me in creating a fun event full of wine, scummy art and lot's of drunken "you are my best friend" moments. Thanks to everyone who came out to support, and Maek Gallery for hosting the event.
